Coleoptile length (mm)

Wheat & Barley

Sub heading

7 & 8 days after planting

Randomised trial

The C4L-alone treatment showed the best overall performance, but combining C4L with a fungicide as a seed treatment, significantly improved coleoptile length compared to the fungicide alone.

This effect was consistent in both Barley & Wheat.

Coleoptile & Root
Mass (g)

Wheat & Barley

7 & 8 days after planting

Randomised trial

Small grains_Slide 5.jpg

The C4L-alone treatment outperformed others in coleoptile mass, while C4L + fungicide improved coleoptile length over the fungicide alone.

Both C4L-alone and C4L + fungicide showed the best root development, with consistent results in wheat and barley.

Wheat Germination

Moorreesburg - 2023

8 Replicates, Randomised block design

C4L at 50 mL/100 kg seed and 100 mL/100 kg of seed, when combined with triticonazole, statistically significantly increased germination by 11.3% and 15.2%, respectively compared to triticonazole alone.

Triticonazole alone negatively impacted germination relative to the untreated control.

Wheat: Yield (kg/ha)

Small grains_Slide 9.jpg

All C4L treatments increased yield, with the best results observed when seed treatment was combined with foliar applications at the 6-leaf and flag-leaf stages.

Disease Suppression

Barley

All C4L treatments reduced net blotch severity compared to the untreated control.

Among them, seed treatment was the most effective, inhibiting early disease development.

Biomass (t/ha)

Oats

Malmesbury - 2016
Small grains_Slide 13.jpg

All C4L treatments increased yield numerically, with two foliar applications or a seed treatment followed by a foliar application being the most effective, statistically improving yield.

Additionally, seed treatment plots had a lower planting density than other treatments, including the untreated control.

Seed Treatment

Oats

C4L seed treatment on oats at 50 mL/100 kg seed, evaluated at the 5 - 6 leaf stage, improved all measured parameters, with foliar mass showing a statistically significant 65% increase.
